TO THE WOODLANDS FROM 4 DIRECTIONS

The Woodlands is in Roundtop NY on Green Co. Route 39. If you get lost, ask for directions to the Roundtop post office, which is just across the street.

FROM SOUTH (NEW YORK CITY etc) ......click here for local map......

NY Thruway (87) north to exit #20 Saugerties

Left at traffic light, then almost immediately:

Right onto Route 32 north 10½ miles:
At 5½ miles (Citco Station and “Ace of Clubs” bar if it’s still in business), bear right at fork to stay on Rte 32. (You DON’T want 32A.) Pass junction 23A. Go about 1/4-1/2 mile more.

Left onto Hearts Content Road, aka "Greene Co. 31"
Sign says Roundtop and Purling. Stay on this windy road. Go over a little bridge. At about 4 miles (church straight ahead, fire station on left):

Right onto Greene Co. Route 39. Down little hill, The Woodlands is immediately to your left. Big pink Victorian house set back on lawn, across street from post office. Parking area is alongside driveway.

NY Thruway (87) south to exit 21, Catskill

Route 23 west about 10 minutes.

Left onto Silver Spur Road (big sign). OBSERVE ALL STOP SIGNS!
(If you miss this turnoff, turn left at Cairo, pass shopping plaza, turn left at traffic light onto Rte 39.)

After 5-10 minutes, Silver Spur ends at

Greene Co. Route 39 (may not be a sign). Turn left. Stay left at fork (lots of wooden signs). Just after going over a little bridge, The Woodlands is just ahead on the right: Big peachy-pink house with wrap-around veranda. Roundtop Post Office is across the street. Parking area is along the driveway. If you come uphill to a fire station and church, you’ve gone too far.

Mass Pike west to Route 23 west. Either:
Pick up Route 23 in Westfield, just west of Springfield. OR
Take Mass Pike to the Taconic Pkwy (Pike exit B2) and the Taconic South to Rte 23.

Route 23 become Route 23B as you approach Hudson, NY. Stay straight. Don’t take 23 south.

At Hudson, NY, Route 23B turns left and becomes Route 23B/9G. Follow this to:

Rip Van Winkle Bridge across the Hudson River.

Route 23 west for about 15 minutes.

Left onto Silver Spur Road (big sign). OBSERVE ALL STOP SIGNS!
(If you miss this turnoff, its ok: Turn left at Cairo, pass shopping plaza, turn left at light & gas station onto Rte 39.)
After 5-10 minutes, Silver Spur ends.

Left onto Green Co. Route 39 (may not be a sign). Stay left at fork (lots of wooden signs). Just after going over a little bridge The Woodlands is just ahead on the right: A big pink house with veranda. Roundtop Post Office is across the street. Parking area is along the driveway. If you come uphill to a fire station and church, you’ve gone too far.

FROM EAST DURHAM via Rte 31/ Heart's Content Rd - about 15 min. ......click here for local map......

Rte 145 east out of East Durham. Pass McGrath’s on left, Durham High School on right. Just past big pond on left, at "Irish Lakes Motel" ("Cottages?"):

Right onto Roosevelt (Ave or Rd). This is Rte 31. It has different local names: Acra Rd, Acra-Roundtop Rd, then Heart's Content Rd. Very curvy, with lots of squirrels etc so drive carefully! Ater 5 min or less, road ends.

Left onto: Rte 20/Old State Rte 23 a few 100 yards.

Right onto continuation of Rte 31/ Heart's Content Rd. Very shortly STOPSIGN for crossing of highway Rte 23. Continue for about 10 min. At big intersection, fire station on right:

Left onto Greene Co. 39. Down little hill, The Woodlands is immediately to your left. Big pink Victorian house set back on lawn, across street from post office. Parking area is alongside driveway.

FROM EAST DURHAM via Cairo - about 20 min.

Good if you want to stop at supermarket, laundromat, etc in Cairo.

Rte 145 east out of East Durham. Pass McGrath’s on left, Durham High School on right.

At Rte 23W follow signs to Cairo. Turn right into Cairo. Left onto main street in Cairo. At first traffic light:

Right onto Rte 39.
(It’s in the middle of the town, at traffic light. A gas station on the southeast corner. If you come to a big shopping plaza on right, you’ve gone too far.) Stay on this about 10 mintues: Stay left at fork (lots of wooden signs). Just after going over a little bridge, pass white grocery store on left. The Woodlands is just ahead on the right. (Big pink house. Roundtop Post Office across the street.) Drive up driveway and park in space to the right. If you come uphill to a fire station and church, you’ve gone too far.
